About Loyola Marymount
The Lions (10-9, 1-2 WCC) entered WCC play on a six-game winning streak, but have dropped two of their first three games to open league play. After losing at Pepperdine (79-75) and at home to San Francisco (70-67), the Lions defeated Santa Clara (81-70) on Saturday. Sophomore G Jarred DuBois led four LMU players in double figures with 17 points, while Ashley Hamilton had a double-double with (15 pts, 10 rebs) in the win. The Lions played without leading scorer Drew Viney (16.5 ppg) for the second straight game with a sore tibia. Viney is doubtful for Thursday. LMU also lost freshmen big men Edgar Garibay and Quincy Lawson to season ending injuries earlier this year. LMU has impressive road wins at Notre Dame (87-85) and at USC (67-59) already this season. Head coach Max Good is in his second season at the helm of LMU, taking over midseason last year Bill Bayno. Good has one of the youngest teams in the country and regularly starts four underclassmen. Junior PG Vernon Teal averages 14.4 ppg and a WCC-high 6.3 assists per game. Dubois (12.7) and Larry Davis (11.1) are also in double figures.
