About San Francisco
The Dons (7-13, 2-3 WCC) lost a heartbreaking 66-65 decision at home to the Santa Clara Broncos in their only game last week. Sophomore G Kwame Vaughn led the way for San Francisco with 18 points, while senior F Dior Lowhorn added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Lowhorn has led the WCC in scoring each of the last two seasons and is averaging a team-high 17.6 points this year. Vaughn has picked it up in league games, averaging a team-high 16.8 points in WCC action. The Dons are shooting 45 percent from the field, but have struggled from three-point range (.315). USF does a good job in the rebounding department, holding a +5.1 margin on the season. Second-year head coach Rex Walters returns four starters and six lettermen from last year’s 11-19 squad that finished seventh in the WCC (3-11). USF leads the all-time series with Portland by a 45-23 margin, but the Pilots won both meetings last year including a 72-67 victory at War Memorial Gymnasium. Prior to those wins, the Dons had won 10 in a row and 14-of-the-last-15 in the series.
