…And 2-a-day practices have come to an end! We made it! Congrats, Pilots!
Although 2-a-day practices were exhausting, we are happy with the progress we made as a team. All the bits and pieces are starting to fall into place and we are looking good!
The first couple days of Fall Break we focused on defense. Anyone up for shell-drill… again? :)
Once we sharpened up our defense the coaches then introduced our set plays – the fun stuff! It was a bit overwhelming when we first learned the set plays because there are a lot. However, when we started to run them against each other they worked really well! I mean the defense obviously knew the plays and they still worked! I can’t wait to show them off in 7 days at our first game!!
Of course, over the break we made an appearance at the Griffin household to indulge in a delicious homemade meal! After an intense day of practices we were ready to feast! I even warned my mom before hand to make lots and lots of food because:
1) We can eat! (I’m not kidding. Ask anyone on the team how many points they have left on their food plan… I predict that the majority of us will be point-less come Thanksgiving – Uh oh!)
2) The Commons food is getting old. Although the food is good at the Commons there isn’t a ton of variety. Plus, nothing beats a homemade meal.
3) No practice the next day. In hindsight I now realize that our rationale of this final point was detrimental. Since we did not have practice the following day many of us saw dinner as a green light to shovel as much food, desserts and goodies into our mouths as physically possible. (*On our day off we had team pictures. Below I added a few pictures.)
After devouring the steak (which LA claims was “on point”) and chicken, demolishing the potatoes, and cleaning up dessert we could hardly budge we were so full. Z described this feeling of completely satisfyingly jammed-packed of food as “full to the eyeballs.”
So, after a successful dinner we lounged in the family room, full to our eyeballs watching The Biggest Loser. Ironic?
We are now back to our normal, eat, sleep, basketball, school routine. Although Fall Break wasn’t much of a break for us it was still nice to have time off from school.
Thanks for checking in! Hope to see you in 7 days at our first game!
