2010 NABC All-District Teams
KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Portland seniors T.J. Campbell and Robin Smeulders were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 9 Second Team. Campbell is a repeat honoree on the All-District Team, while Smeulders earned his first honor. Both players were previously named to the All-West Coast Conference First Team. District 9 consists of programs from the WCC and Big West Conference.
Campbell finished the year averaging 13.7 points and 5.6 assists per game. He was 10th nationally in free throw percentage (.899) and 20th in the nation in assists per game. Campbell also set a Portland record by claiming three WCC Player of the Week honors throughout the season.
Smeulders averaged 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for the Pilots. He recorded his 1,000th career point in the final regular season game against Lewis & Clark College. Smeulders finished in the top 15 of the WCC in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage (.507).
Portland concluded its 2009-10 season with a 21-11 overall record, matching a school record for wins as a Division I program. The Pilots placed third in the WCC for the second straight season, while their 10-4 league record also matched a school best for wins. Portland competed in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) for the second consecutive season, marking the first time in program history with back-to-back postseason appearances.
