PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland Pilots senior Danielle Foxhoven is one of 30 NCAA women’s soccer student-athletes selected as candidates for the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Foxhoven, who tied for the team high last year in both goals and assists, is also a Soccer America Preseason All-American and she was named to the Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team. The native of Littleton, Colo., enters her final season on The Bluff with 49 career goals, which ranks fourth all-time at UP.
As a junior last year, Foxhoven totaled 21 points on eight goals and five assists. She also registered two game-winners en route to All-WCC First Team honors. The forward/midfielder enters this season ranked third in program history in shots on goal per game (1.70), fifth in points per game (1.83) and goals per game (0.74), sixth in overall points (121) and tied for eighth in game-winners (12).
A marketing & management major with a cumulative GPA of 3.42, Foxhoven was named an Academic First Team All-American as a sophomore. She earned Academic All-American Third Team honors as a junior last fall.
Lowe’s, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the winner at the 2011 NCAA Women’s College Cup Championships in Kennesaw, Ga., in early December.
