All 12 Pilots Score in Victory over Portland Bible College
PORTLAND, Ore. --- Sophomore guard Kevin Bailey matched his career-high with 22 points and the Portland Pilots cruised to a 95-66 win over the Portland Bible College Wildcats Friday night at the Chiles Center. All 12 Pilots that played scored, including four in double figures.
Sophomore center Riley Barker came off the bench to record his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Tanner Riley drilled four three-pointers and finished with 18 points off the bench, while sophomore center Thomas van der Mars chipped in 12 points.
The Pilots (4-6) were able to use their bench early and often after jumping out to a 12-2 lead after the first three minutes of play. The lead would blossom to as much as 32 points late in the first period as Portland took a 56-29 lead into halftime.
Bailey finished 8-for-9 from the field in 25 minutes of action. Leading scorer Ryan Nicholas played just 13 minutes and finished with nine points and five rebounds.
Portland made 7-of-12 three-pointers in the first half and outscored the Wildcats 50-8 in the paint on the night. The Pilots also used their size advantage to gain a 48-19 rebounding edge.
Portland Bible College (13-5), a member of the National Christian Collegiate Athletics Association, made 13-of-37 three-point attempts on the night and were led by Breen Weeks’ 21 points.
The Pilots will continue their three-game homestand by hosting Cal State Bakersfield on Monday and North Florida on Wednesday.
