PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland junior forward Amanda Frisbie, who scored twice during a 3-2 win at USC on Sunday, has been named the inaugural U.S. Bank University of Portland Student Athlete of the Week. UP and U.S. Bank will recognize one student athlete for their accomplishments each week during the 2012-13 school year.
Frisbie’s two goals against the Trojans came on her only two shots of the game, and they gave the Pilots a 2-0 lead. Frisbie’s first goal came in the 35th minute, and she scored her second 13 minutes into the second half. It’s the second multi-goal performance of the season for the McKinney, Texas, native, and she leads the Pilots with six goals on the year.
“It’s an honor to be recognized as the U.S. Bank Student Athlete of the Week,” said Frisbie. “It was great to get a win on the road. It was a hard-fought game, and I was proud of our team for its performance.”
Frisbie and the Pilots return home this weekend for a pair of non-conference matches at Merlo Field. Seattle visits for a 7 p.m. game on Friday night, while Denver comes to town for a 1 p.m. tilt on Sunday.
