SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- The Portland men punched their ticket to the NCAA Cross Country Championships next week in Terre Haute, Ind. following a third-place finish at the NCAA West Regional this morning. Finishing with 92 points overall, the Pilots were behind Oregon (64) and Stanford (53), respectively.

Four Pilots finished in the top-25 and garnered All-Region honors. Scott Fauble led the team with a fourth-place overall finish in a time of 29:49 over the 10k course. David Perry (15
th, 29:59), Charlie McDonald (16
th, 30:04), Danny Martinez (23
rd, 30:22) and Ryan Poland (36
th, 30:38) stormed in to cap off the Pilot scoring. Cody Wells (41
st, 30:44) and Timo Goehler (51
st, 30:55) were the final two Pilots across the line.

"This was a great team race," said Fauble. "I'm extremely proud of everyone and especially of David and Charlie. They both ran gutsy and were important to our success today."

The women came to the NCAA West Regional ranked 11
th in the West. They improved on that ranking today after a ninth-place overall finish with a team score of 284 points.

Leading the women was Tansey Lystad. She turned in an All-Region performance after moving up the last few kilometers of the 6k course. Her time of 20:06 secured an 18
th place finish.

th, 21:32) rounded off the scorers for the women. Also finishing for the Pilots were Natasha Verma (123

nd, 21:57).
"Our top three ran great," said head coach Ian Solof. "Tansey had a huge race and Gina moved up really well."
He added, "NInth wasn't what we wanted for the ream, so we will have to raise expectations for the future."
