PORTLAND, Ore.--- The Portland Pilots track squad came away with confidence from their annual Pilot Indoor after multiple victories from numerous athletes Sunday afternoon in the Chiles Center.
Freshman Katie Lord and sophomore Katherine Maus kicked off the day by going one-two in the high jump. Lord won the event with a jump of 1.65 meters and Maus was a close second topping out at 1.6 meters. On the men's side, junior Matt Winterer won the high jump with a mark of 2 meters.
The Pilots continued their dominance in the track events and it began with Cody Wells winning the men's mile in a time of 4:24.02.
Sophomore Melissa Baller ran the 200 and 300 meter dash, winning both her heats and setting the day’s best times with a 27.34 and a 43.7, respectively.
In the women's 600 meter run, senior Kelsey Bestall claimed victory with a 1:44.09. Freshman Justin Rocereto continued his hot streak and finished first in the same event while posting a PR of 1:26.08.
The Pilots did not stop there and saw success in both the men's and women's 400 meter dash with sophomore Shane Fekete (52.76) and Madeleine Hutson (1:03.83) posting the fastest times of the day.
Breaking the two-minute mark en route to victory in the men's 800 meter run was junior Kent Nowak with a time of 1:58.82. To end the meet on a high note, Portland freshman Alex Dillard competed unattached in the men's 3000 meter run and won the race in 8:29.08- a PR for the freshman.
Portland captured both the men and women team title. Complete results are attached.
Next up, the Pilots will travel to Seattle on March 1st for the UW Final Qualifier. This meet will finish off the Pilots' indoor campaign.
