Three Pilots Post PRs at Husky Classic

SEATTLE, Wash. --- Three Portland Pilots have set personal records so far in their respective events at the Husky Classic Saturday morning.
Chris Borg and Stephen Kersh kicked off the day with PRs in the 3000m race, finishing neck-and-neck to take the top two spots. Both ran a time of 8:21.
A couple of minutes later, freshman Justin Rocereto followed with a new PR in the mile, winning his heat with a time of 4:14.
"These guys have been working hard,” Portland head coach Rob Conner. “It was great to see personal records this early in the season."
In the women’s mile, Melissa Hastings (5:02.18) finished less 19 hundredths of a second behind the top finisher in her heat, while Natasha Verma placed third, finishing with a sub-five minute mark (4:55.50)
On Friday, Mark Roetcisoender (22.86) and Shane Fekete (23.85) finished fourth and third in their respective 200m heats.
In the women’s 5k, upperclassmen Gina Paletta and Kellie Houser ran times of 17:07.7 and 17:41.1.
Gavin Flynn continued Portland’s impressive stay at the Husky Classic with the top time in the men’s 400m dash, clocking a 52.21.
Freshman Lorea Ibarzabal kept the victories coming for Portland in the women's 800m with a time of 2:15.18 in the second heat.
As the meet moved into the track events, freshman Katie Lord posted a 1.58m mark in the women’s high jump to tie for third place.
