• The Pilots are looking to defend their conference crown after splitting the WCC Title last season with Santa Clara and BYU.
LAST WEEK • The Pilots took an early 1-0 lead on Sunday against Washington, fell behind 2-1, tied the game at 2-2 before succumbing to the Huskies 3-2 at Merlo Field.
• Allison Wetherington gave the Pilots the early lead with her first goal of the season in the 24th minute.
• The Huskies then tied it with a PK in the 27th minute before claiming a 2-1 lead at the half, courtesy a goal by Kate Bennett in the 39th minute.
• Parkes Kendrick leveled the score with a goal in the 49th minute, but UW's Amanda Perez tallied the equalizer with a perfectly placed header off a corner kick in the 80th minute.
ABOUT THE PILOTS • Portland's win over Miami on Sept. 12 was the 500th victory in program history; Portland began competing at the NAIA level in 1980, moved up to NCAA Division I in 1986 and has compiled an overall record of 500-156-52 (.743).
• The Pilots have regularly started a line-up that features eight freshmen and sophomores and only three upperclassmen.
• The Pilots began the season in the top-15 of all three major polls.
• The Pilots have faced two top-five opponents this season, traveling to then-No. 2 Florida State on Aug. 22 and hosting then-No. 5 Stanford on Aug. 30.
• Currently, four of Portland's 2014 opponents are ranked in the NSCAA poll, with another receiving votes.
• Sophomore Danica Evans leads the team with four goals and two assists, while nine different players have accounted for Portland's 10 assists.
• 4,847 fans attended Portland's match vs. Stanford on Aug. 30, and a record 2,503 students were in attendance; 2,503 students represents a remarkable 63% of the entire UP student body, and the overall crowd was the 15th largest in program history.
• The Pilots received three first-place votes and just missed being picked as the favorite to win the always challenging West Coast Conference.
• The Pilots placed a league-high three players on the All-WCC Preseason Team as sophomores Ellie Boon, Danica Evans and Allison Wetherington were each selected.
• Portland claimed the program's 13th WCC title last season after sharing the league crown with BYU and Santa Clara.
• Portland's roster features a heralded sophomore class that was ranked fifth in the nation entering UP as freshmen last fall; midfielder Allison Wetherington was named the 2013 WCC Freshman of the Year, while Ellie Boon (All-WCC Honorable Mention), Danica Evans (All-WCC Honorable Mention) and Ariel Viera (WCC All-Freshman Team) also garnered all-league recognition.
• The Pilots have led the nation in attendance for nine straight years; UP set a then-NCAA record for attendance in a season when 47,082 fans attended Portland women's soccer games in 2008.
• The Pilots have advanced to at least the second round of the NCAA playoffs for 14 straight seasons and have reached the playoffs during 21 of the last 22 years.
• Portland won the NCAA National Championship in 2002 and in 2005.

• Smith is in his 12th year at the helm of the Pilots and has compiled an overall career mark of 196-43-19 (.800) and a remarkable 65-9-7 (.846) record in the WCC.
