Box Score (pdf) STOCKTON, Calif. --- The Portland Pilots took on the Pacific Tigers in the Alex G. Spanos Center on Thursday night; the match fell in favor of the Tigers 3-0. Portland (6-19, 1-13 WCC) was led by sophomore Makayla Lindburg who had 10 kills and seven digs during the match. 
The Tigers improve to 20-7 overall and 9-5 in conference with set wins of 25-11, 25-22, and 25-20. 
Pacific jumped out to an early lead and held it through the first set to take the match lead 1-0. The Tigers were led by junior Kat Schulz who recorded five kills during the set and three other Tigers had hitting percentages of 1.000, contributing to the team hitting percentage of .556. Late in the set, the Pilots held off a pair of Tiger match points on a Pacific attack error and a service ace by senior Katie Mardesich. Sophomore Makayla Lindburg led Portland with three kills during the game. 
After falling behind 5-3 early in the second set, the Pilots went on a six point run to take the lead 9-5. Sophomore Brittney Markwith had two kills and Mardesich contributed another service ace to help give Portland the four point lead. Portland and Pacific played an even game through the middle of the set until the two sides were tied at 18-18. Schulz hit three kills in a row to give the Tigers the lead at 21-18, and the momentum would carry them through the rest of the set and give them the 2-0 match lead. 
Portland out blocked Pacific during the set five to one, and were led by sophomore Katie Sullivan who had three of her own. Offensively, a trio of Pilots in senior Bea Loper, Lindburg, and Markwith each contributed three kills. 
The Tigers started the third set off strong, but the Pilots held with them through the middle of the set as Loper and Lindburg led Portland with six of seven total team kills through the 16-13 scoreline. Pacific increased their lead and pulled away from the Pilots to take the game and the match. Portland was led by Lindburg who had four kills during the final set. 
The Pilots continue their road trip on Saturday when they take on the Saint Mary's Gaels at 1 p.m. in Moraga, Calif.
