SPOKANE, Wash. – Portland has two singles players in the top flight singles semifinals, three in the second flight singles semifinals, and two of the four remaining doubles teams after Saturday's dominant play at the Bulldog Classic.
Sophomore Michail Pervolarakis cruised to the top Blue Flight singles semifinals with a pair of straight set wins on Saturday. Opposite the bracket, sophomore Mathieu Garcia won in three sets in the Round of 16 and then knocked off Idaho's Odon Barta in the quarterfinals to reach the semi's.
In the Red Singles Draw, Portland has taken over the bracket. Junior Alex Wallace pulled out a three-setter Saturday to advance to the semifinals after defeating Idaho's Jackson Varney. Sophomores Jamie Fisher and Goutham Sundaram each won in straight sets and will square off in the semifinals at the bottom of the bracket. Sophomore Jared Madison won both of his consolation singles matches on Saturday as well.
In doubles action, the duos of Pervolarakis and Felix Fan, as well as Wallace and Carlos Donat advanced to the semifinals with Saturday wins.
Portland is 19-6 in singles and 9-4 in doubles thus far at the Bulldog Classic. Action will conclude on Sunday.
