PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots erupted offensively and downed the Evergreen Geoducks 92-54 in the team's final exhibition game Friday night at the Chiles Center. Senior point guard Alec Wintering led the Pilots with 21 points, nine assists and six steals as the Pilots now turn their attention to the regular season.

Friday's win over the Geoducks of the NAIA Cascade Collegiate Conference was never in doubt. Wintering set the tone from the tip with 13 points and four steals in the game's first six minutes to launch the Pilots to a 19-5 lead. The margin would grow to as much as 23 points in the period before the Pilots closed the half with a 49-29 lead.
It was more of the same after halftime as Portland's lead blossomed to as much as 46 points late in regulation. Porter was able to substitute liberally as ten Pilots logged double-digit minutes.
Sophomore guard Jazz Johnson came off the bench to pour in 17 points, including a perfect 4-of-4 from three-point range. Junior forward Gabe Taylor added 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while senior forward Jarrel Marshall also reached double figures with 12 points.
Portland shot 52 percent overall and made 12-of-28 three-pointers, while Evergreen was held to 33 percent shooting and 5-of-20 from beyond the arc.
The Pilots also used their size advantage to gain a 44-33 rebounding margin and 36-20 edge in points in the paint. Portland was able to get in transition and outscored Evergreen 14-2 in fast break points.
