Schedule/ResultsPORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots beach volleyball team was at Delta Park on Saturday for the first day of the Oregon Tournament. Boise State came back to win in the first match of the day and Stanford used their height to move past Portland in the afternoon. Â Â
The Pilots won the first dual over Boise State (1-0) thanks to nice play by Monica Gajda and Sarah Savoca. The duo won 2-0 over Sabryn Roberts and Katie Hall with set scores of 21-18 and 21-11.
The Broncos came back to win the next three bouts 2-0.
Maddy Mandon and Mikayla Lindburg faced Sierra Nobley and Sarah Baugh in the number two pair in a 55 minute match. Mandon and Lindburg won the first game 21-19 before the Bosie State pair worked back to take the second game 22-20 and the third game 15-10.
In the afternoon match, Portland (0-6) dropped a match to Pac-12 powerhouse Stanford (4-3).
Stanford used their experience and height to win four of the five duals. Katie Barker and Djurdjina Milovic stole a match from the Cardinal in the fourth pair with set scores of 22-20, 10-21, and 15-12.
In the top pair, Hannah Troutman and Morgan Robinson forced Hayley Hodson and Payton Chang into a third game by winning the second game 21-7, but the Cardinal finished strong with a 15-7 win in the third game.Â
The Pilots will wrap up the weekend tomorrow with a match against the host team Oregon at Delta Park at 2:00 p.m.
