SEATTLE, Wash. --- Sophomore Lauren LaRocco and junior Taryn Rawlings each set new school records in their respective events to conclude the final day of the MPSF Championships in the Dempsey Indoor facility.
 
Rawlings started off the meet with an impressive mile, beating her previous personal record by 3 seconds and claiming a first place finish in her heat in 4:40.78. LaRocco then competed later in the day, also beating her previous record by four seconds and finishing third overall. Both Pilots previously held the school records in the 3000m and the mile.
 
Rawlings and senior Anna Farello also each made their marks in the record books in the 3000 meter, running times of 9:22.62 and 9:24.17 for third and fourth all-time records.
 
"Lauren ran a super gutsy race and really pushed the pace in the 3K," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "All four of our women had PRs in that event and Taryn really impressed me with three big time performances this weekend."
 
Also performing well in the 3000m for the Portland men, was junior Jeff Thies, senior Brady Johnson and sophomore Noah Schutte. Johnson (8:02.21) and Thies (8:03.36) both climbed the all-time list with sixth and seventh overall finishes, to earn fifth and sixth UP rankings, respectively. Schutte will also be added to the record book for finishing with a seventh all-time record of 8:05.07.
 
"I'm really happy with our milers," said men's head coach Rob Conner. "They all did a really great job and all hit indoor PRs. Trent Mazelli really ran a spectacular closing with a 57-second last quarter to hit a huge PR by 10. The 3000 runners all doubled back after running the 5000 on Friday night, which is not easy. Most everyone dropped a PR which was awesome!"
 
Many other Pilots also produced personal records in their events, executing notable performances. Sophomore Trent Mazelli shocked the field with a strong kick from the back of the pack in the 800m, to register a huge PR (4:10.89) and a fourth place finish in his heat. Likewise, Parkes Kendrick (4:55.16) pulled ahead in the last portion of her race with a strong kick in the mile to win her heat and also set a new PR.
 
The Pilots will next be in action on March 3 at the Linnfield Icebreaker to start their outdoor season.
