EUGENE, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots scored first, but the Oregon Ducks overcame that early deficit to claim a 6-1 win in a non-conference baseball game played on a rainy Tuesday night at PK Park.

The night began well for the Pilots (7-25-1), who scored the game's first run in the top of the first inning. Matt Kelly led off the frame by reaching on a hit-by-pitch, and a few batters later Kevin Wade drove a two-out double into the gap in right-center field. Kelly came around to score from first, handing Portland the early 1-0 lead.

The Ducks (22-8) had an answer with two runs in the bottom of the first to surge ahead. Oregon added two more runs during both the third and fourth innings, and the Pilots never recovered. Portland did leave seven runners stranded during the loss.

Portland starter Corbin Powers (0-4) tossed four innings, allowing all six runs on five hits. He K'd three on the night, and Jordan Horak and Jake Hawken combined to hold the Ducks scoreless during the final four innings. Horak was perfect during his two innings, and he struck out two of the six batters he faced.

Oregon finished with seven hits, and Matthew Dyer provided a two-run double.

Earning the win for Oregon is starter Cole Stringer (3-1), who was the first of six pitchers used by the Ducks.

The Pilots next travel to San Francisco, Calif., for a three-game West Coast Conference series against the San Francisco Dons. The series begins Thursday at Benedetti Diamond at 3 p.m.
