EUGENE, Ore. --- Grace McConnochie placed 11
th overall in the 10,000m final at Historic Hayward Field in the NCAA Outdoor Championships this evening, to earn second team All-American honors. The senior blew away her previous record in the 10,000m with a time of 33:31.74 moving up to second all-time in the UP record books
"Grace did an amazing job and ran a perfect race," said head coach Ian Solof. " To finish 11
th in the nation after only being ninth at the regional is incredible. Not to mention running a 27 second PR! I couldn't be happier for her."
Junior Taryn Rawlings also competed before McConnochie in the 1500m semifinal, finishing 12
th in her heat in 4:26.91.
The top eight in the final of each event at the outdoor championships earns the status of first team All-American, the following eight earn second team, and the eight after that earn All-American honorable mention.
The Championships will continue tomorrow with junior Jeff Thies in the 1500m final at 5:42 p.m. and sophomore Noah Schutte in the steeplechase final at 5:54 p.m. The events will be streamed live on ESPN.
