Box Score PORTLAND, Ore --- The Portland Pilots recorded their third sweep of the season, extending their unbeaten streak to 5-0 with their win over Alabama State, this morning in the Chiles Center. Portland cruised through three sets with scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-17.

The Pilots (5-0) took an early four-point lead in the first set, before Alabama State (2-4) battled back, attempting to close the gap. Moments later, senior Morgan Robinson recorded three straight aces to extend the Pilots lead to 16-9 and sophomore Katie Barker producing two aces of her own to lead the Pilots into the final points of the set. The Hornets attempted to hold off Portland, but freshman Liz Reich and Barker would finish up the set with kills, handing the home team a 25-14 win.

Portland jumped ahead early in the second set as well, and another run fueled by a kill and an ace from senior Sarah Savoca in addition to another kill from Reich to make it 8-3. The Pilots continued to surge forward, which included a 10-1 outburst to bring the set to 20-7. Freshman Izzy Guzik brought the Pilots to the final point with a well-placed kill through a triple block, and she later claimed the set with another strong kill to the center of ASU's court.

Both teams were even at 6-6 to start the third set, each battling for the lead. Savoca and Troutman forced the Hornets into a time out, to push Portland ahead by two. Troutman again led the Pilots on a brief run to make it 14-11, before Reich and junior Reghan Pukis sparked a second short run, to put Portland ahead 20-13. Alabama State attempted to produce a late comeback in the final points, but Pukis ended the streak with a kill and solo block. Pukis and Savoca wrapped up the match with a combined three kills to end the set 25-17.

The team produced an 11 aces throughout the match, while Reich led the Pilots with 9 kills on offense. Freshman Carey Williams recorded 11 digs and sophomore Cali Thompson 28 assists.

The Pilots will be back in action tonight in the tournament finale at 6 p.m., against the also undefeated Oregon State Beavers (4-0). The match will be streamed live on CSN Northwest.
