PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland junior midfielder Larkin Russell was selected to the first team and was one of 11 Pilots total to earn West Coast Conference Women's Soccer All-Academic honors, it was announced on Wednesday. This is second conference all-academic recognition for Russell, who earned honorable mention a year ago.
Â
Russell, who is a psychology major with a 4.00 GPA, led the Pilots this season and ranked third in the WCC with eight assists. The eight assists are the most recorded by a Pilot in a season since 2012. A native of Spokane, Wash., Russell also netted a pair of goals and one game-winner.
Â
Earning WCC All-Academic for the Pilots are senior Rachel Lusby, juniors Rachel Khaw, Kimberly Hazlett, Brianna Miyama and Natalie Muth, and sophomores Olivia Dendinger, Taryn Ries, Kendra Steele, Ellie Walker, and Ellie Winkelmann.
Â
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.
