PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland Pilots basketball standouts Julie Spencer and JoJo Walker are the U.S. Bank Student Athletes of the Month for December. Spencer reached double digits in scoring every game during the month, while Walker averaged 14.0 points per contest.

Spencer, a senior forward from Chehalis, Wash., averaged 16.7 points in seven games, while collecting 7.9 rebounds to help the Pilots get off to their best start to a season since 1997-98. She scored 20 points against Warner Pacific, dropped 21 points vs. Air Force, and she ended the month with her fourth double-double of the year, producing 18 points and 11 boards at LMU. Spencer also connected on four three-pointers in a game twice, and she missed just one free throw in December, going 11-for-12 from the line.

Walker averaged 3.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists in December, to go along with his 14.0 points. The Carolina, Puerto Rico native reached double figures in five of the team's six games, including 22 points in a win over Sacramento State. Walker drilled 5-of-7 three-pointers in the game and added four assists. He scored 13 points and had five steals against Seattle University on Dec. 17.
