OGDEN, Utah --- Haylee Andrews scored a career-best 28 points, Kate Andersen added 16, and Alex Fowler finished with 14 as the Pilots won their second straight, this time cruising past Weber State 78-59 on Saturday Night at the Dee Events Center. Andrews shot 10-for-12 overall en route to her game-high in points.

The Pilots (2-0) begin the head coach Michael Meek era with a pair of wins after defeating Utah State 70-64 on Thursday. Meek is in his first year at the helm of the Pilots.

Portland jumped ahead early against the Wildcats (0-2) after Liana Kaitu'u knocked one down from behind the three-point arc to begin the game. Weber State hung around from there as the Pilots took a slight 23-19 edge to the second quarter.

The Pilots then pushed their lead to nine points after Fowler converted a traditional three-point play. Moments late Andersen drilled a three, and the Pilots had their first double digit advantage at 33-23 with seven minutes remaining in the half. Their lead would grow to 13 with the help of an Andrews' three, and at the half the Pilots were on top 52-39.

The Wildcats briefly cut the deficit to 10 points right after the break, but the Pilots responded by scoring eight unanswered. Andrews and Fowler both had four points during the surge, and Andersen soon followed with three-pointer to make it a 67-47 game.

Jayce Gorzeman gave the Pilots their largest lead when she connected on a fast break that made it 76-51, and Portland would close out the win from there.

The Pilots shot 56 percent from the floor, their second consecutive game to shoot better than 50 percent. They hit seven three-pointers, and they forced the Wildcats into making 24 turnovers.

Liz Graves led Weber State with 15 points, and the Wildcats hit 39 percent of their shots.

The Pilots next return to The Bluff for their home opener on Wednesday morning against Warner Pacific. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. as the game is part of Portland's Education Day.
