SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Portland sophomore guard Maddie Muhlheim landed on the 2018-19 West Coast Conference Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, while Lisa Kaempf, Josie Matz, and Julie Spencer earned honorable mention.

Muhlheim, a Portland native, is averaging 10.0 points per game and she's second in the WCC with 66 three-pointers this season. Against San Diego on Feb. 16, Muhlheim set a program record by hitting nine three-pointers, finishing with a career-best 27 points.

Kaempf is a senior forward from Aschaffenburg, Germany, who's made 11 starts this year and is averaging 3.5 points and 3.1 boards per game. Matz, a sophomore forward out of Tacoma, is scoring close to six points a game, and she poured in a career-best 19 points against Utah State earlier this season.

A senior forward who hails from Chehalis, Wash., Spencer scored her 1,000th career-point earlier this season. Spencer also ranks No. 5 all-time at Portland with 729 career boards, and she's 10th in free throw percentage (.767). Spencer is currently fifth in the WCC in rebounds (7.6) and is seventh in points (15.3), and she has six double-doubles this year. She also earned WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2017-18.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.
