SANTA MONICA, CALIF. --- The Portland Pilots, who entered the 2019 WCC Beach Volleyball Championships as the No. 6 seed with an opening match against No.19 Saint Mary's, fell to the Gaels and then lost an elimination match to end their 2019 season against the Pacific Tigers.

"It has been a great season for learning and gaining more experience in the sand", said head coach Dylan Hamilton. "We would like to thank our seniors participating in their final beach volleyball competitions - Lauren, Morgan, Katie and Reagan, as well as our assistant coach Rick - for their hard work and dedication to the success and culture of this team."
 
The Pilots match against the Tigers went down to the last pairs dual, as the 4's pair third and final set was the deciding factor in who would move on to face the No. 4 seed San Francisco Dons.

2's pair junior Katie Barker and sophomore Carey William's secured their fifth pairs victory of the 2019 season, dominating their dual with scores of 21-14 and 21-8. Sophomore Liz Reich and Senior Lauren Naatz followed suit, the 5's pair securing Portland's second set against Pacific.

4's pair freshman Jesse Brigham and sophomore Kellie Hughes were able to force a third set in their dual, taking the second set 21-18. They were unable to finish the comeback despite competing till the end, falling 13-15 to the Tigers.
