PORTLAND, Ore. – University of Maine graduate transfer Isiaiah White (Ellicott City, Md.) has signed a financial aid agreement with the University of Portland and will join the Pilots for the 2019-20 season, head coach Terry Porter announced on Monday. White will enroll in the Pamplin School of Business to pursue his M.B.A. at Portland.
White (6-5, 195) averaged 13.5 points per game as the second leading scorer for the Black Bears, while also grabbing 3.5 rebounds per game. He led the team in three-pointers made (54), steals (43) and blocked shots (22), while shooting 41 percent from the field. White scored 20 or more points five times this past season, including a career-high 24 points at Utah.
"Isaiah will be an impact player for us on the wing next season," Porter said. "He is a versatile athlete that can shoot the ball well from distance. Isaiah will bring some much-needed experience to our young roster next season and we'll look for him to be a leader on the court."
White averaged 11.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game during the 2017-18 season, his first year on the court at Maine. He also led the Black Bears that season in steals (29) and blocked shots (30) despite missing eight games with a foot injury.
White began his collegiate career at UNC Asheville where he redshirted the 2015-16 season. He then played one year at Harford Community College where he averaged 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 47 percent from the floor.
White is the fourth player to commit to Portland for next season. He joins recently signed prep school point guard
Chase Adams, as well as previously signed high school players
Cody Collinsworth and Donyae McCaskill.
