UW Preview Results
 
SEATTLE, Wash.--- The Portland Pilots men's and women's indoor track teams produced many historic feats to open the 2020 Indoor Season at the UW Preview held at Dempsey Indoor on Saturday. A combined 21 Pilots earned personal bests by either competing in the event for the first time or improving upon their previous time.
 
Sophomore Tara Fuiten was first into the record books with her performance in the women's 600m race (1:36.24), which lands her in second place all-time in the event. 
 
Jasmine Fehr also printed her name in UP school history in the mile with her time of 4:49:55. Fehr's PR put her in fifth place all-time in the indoor mile.
 
In the women's 3000m run, Anna Pataki continued her success from the recent cross country season by running the event in 9:35.29, good for eighth place all-time. 
 
"This was a great start to the indoor season," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "I saw a lot of tough racing and was really impressed by Tara Fuiten, Anna Pataki, and Stella Gillman. All three ran nice PRs and are showing excellent improvement."
 
On the men's side, Said Guermali ran the men's 1000m in 2:30.06, while collecting the third best time in Portland history in the event. Then in the men's mile, newcomer George Duggan's time of 4:04.49 and recent cross country All-American Caleb Webb's time of 4:06.43 were both good for record breaking times, of seventh and 10^thplaces all-time, respectively. 
 
Freshman Parker Wilkerson's and veteran Evert Silva's performance in the 800m and 3000m races land both Pilots in 10^thplace all-time in their respective events as well.
 
"It was a very nice start with lots of bright spots," said men's head coach Rob Conner.  "We are excited to be underway in 2020!"
 
The Pilots continue the indoor season next weekend in the first of three home meets this year on Saturday, January 25^thand Sunday January 26^th, located on both the campuses of the University of Portland and George Fox University in Newberg, Ore.
