PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots volleyball program, which had its traditional fall season postpone due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, will play their West Coast Conference schedule this spring, it was announced by the league. The "2020" WCC schedule remains extremely tentative, and the league plans to have teams compete against a conference opponent on back-to-back nights, meeting one program each week.
Official match start times have yet to be announced.
The Pilots will kick off the season on Tuesday, January 26
th and Wednesday the 27
th, by hosting a BYU squad that reached the second round of last year's NCAA tournament.
The first two weeks of February will see the Pilots on their first away trips of the season, visiting 2019 conference champions San Diego on the 2
ndand 3
rd, and that's followed by a match-up with Loyola Marymount on the 9
th and 10
th.
Returning to the Chiles Center on February 16
th and 17
th, Portland will play the San Francisco Dons, a program which the Pilots went 1-1 with this past conference season.
The last week in February will see Portland on the road again, this time to face Saint Mary's on the 23
rd and 24
th. More away matches will come the week after, against the Santa Clara Broncos, which are set for March 5
thand 6
th.
Portland will be at home for competition against Pepperdine and Pacific, those matches occurring in Chiles March 12
th and 13
th, and the 19
th and 20
th, respectively.
The Pilots will then close out the season against Gonzaga, hosting the Bulldogs on Friday, March 26
th, and Saturday March 27
th, for their last conference matches of the year.
This will be the first year Portland is led by head coach Megan Burton, and the Pilots return eight members of last year's squad, including All-WCC honoree Liz Reich.
