SEATTLE, Wash---The Portland Pilots' men's and women's track teams opened the Husky Classic with several record breaking performances on Friday night at Dempsey Indoor on the campus of the University of Washington.

In the men's 3000 meter run, Justin Hazell led the way with his time of 8:01.40 to put himself in eighth place in program history in the event. Freshman Bradley Peloquin also ran a personal best of 8:07.66 while claiming 31st place. Riley Osen and Clement Leduc followed in 33rd place and 51st place, respectively.
Â

Michael Teran-Solano came close behind in 13:47.81, a time which puts him in third place in program history. Joe Horen (14:38.27) and Sam Lomax (14:52.69) also ran solid races.
Â
"That was an amazing night for us, possibly the best 5000 night in Pilot history with Mike T and Evert each running 13:47 and Jacob Klemz running 13:52 unattached. Really tough running!" said men's head coach Rob Conner. "Super happy with our freshmen as well, Justin and Bradley each had significant breakthroughs."
Â
On the women's side, Anna Pataki and Stella Gillman made their marks in UP program history in the 5K as well, with Pataki claiming fourth all-time with her time of 16:16.30, and Gillman's 16:23.08 good for sixth place all-time.
Â
Standout sprinter Maya Murphy-Cook also made history in the women's 200 meter dash, collecting a PR of 25.79 for second place all-time.
Â
"Our women all ran great tonight," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "Maya had a nice heat win and Anna and Stella both ran massive PRs in the 5K to make our all-time list. I was so impressed by both of them."
Â
The Husky Classic continues tomorrow with Murphy-Cook competing in the 60 meter dash at 11:30am, Verlee Bakker in the mile run at 12:10pm, and Trent Mazelli and George Duggan in the men's mile run at 12:45pm.
