SEATTLE, Wash.--- Portland's men's and women's indoor track teams began the weekend strong with several program bests up at Dempsey Indoor on Friday.
Â
Maya Murphy-Cook continued a stellar senior season by claiming two personal records in both the 60m dash (7.88) and the 200m dash (25.50). The Pilot now claims second place in program history in both events.
Â
Sophomore standout Tara Fuiten also collected second place all-time in the women's 400 meter dash with her time of 57.68.
Â
"Maya and Tara both did fantastic tonight," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "These were significant PRs and really show the good work Coach Warren is doing with the sprint group."
Â
For the men, newcomers Parker Wilkerson and Konnor Hathaway both made the all-time list in the men's 800m run. Wilkerson finished fifth individually in 1:54.21 to take seventh-place all-time, with Hathaway close behind in 1:54.40, good for ninth-place all-time.
Â
"Very nice to get lifetime personal bests in February," said men's head coach Rob Conner. "I'm very proud of Parker and Konnor's efforts. They are can-do guys, focused on working hard."
Â
The Pilots return home to Newberg tomorrow, Saturday, February 21st, to open the Portland Indoor Three on the campus of George Fox University. Murphy-Cook and Fuiten are competing in the 60m dash beginning at 11:00am with teammates Audrey Lewis and Caitlin Kirk.Â
