SEATTLE, Wash.--- The Portland men's and women's track teams opened the MPSF Championships at Dempsey Indoor on Friday, where standout sprinter Maya Murphy-Cook tied Portland's all-time record in the women's 60m dash, and many athletes ended the night with new personal records.

Senior Maya Murphy-Cook highlighted the night by matching program history in the women's 60m dash with her time of 7.84. Murphy-Cook also raced in the women's 200 meter dash, collecting 39
th place in 25.83. Tara Fuiten also garnered 42
nd place in the 200m, while claiming a new personal best of 25.95.

"Maya and Tara were both great tonight!" said women's head coach Ian Solof. "They got us off to a good start and I'm excited to see more great running tomorrow."

Evert Silva claimed an impressive second place overall in men's 5000 meter run, finishing in 13:54.26. Michael Teran-Solano was next to cross the line for Portland in 14:00.40. All of Portland's 12 competitors finished the race in the top-30.

The MPSF Championships continue tomorrow in Seattle, beginning with the women's one mile run at 11:10am.
