OMAHA, Neb. – Tracye Tamarro gave Portland a first inning lead with a solo home run, but the Pilots would be held scoreless the rest of the way as the Creighton Bluejays won 6-1 on Saturday at TD Ameritrade Park.
The Pilots (11-4) dropped their third straight game of the trip after being swept in a Friday doubleheader by Omaha.
Tamarro belted his team-leading seventh homer of the season to deep right field in the top of the first inning.
The Bluejays (5-6) tied the score with an RBI single from Nick Gile in the second to score Ryan Mantle, who led off the inning with a double.
Creighton added two more in the third inning on a two-out, two-run single from Cam Frederick followed by another run-scoring single from Gile.
Parker Upton gave the Bluejays some breathing room with a two-run home run in the fourth.
Dylan Tebrake (3-1) kept the Pilots in check and picked up the victory for Creighton after tossing six solid innings. He allowed just the one run on three hits, walked three and struck out three.
Portland threatened in the second inning as Travis Turney walked and stole two bases, but the Pilots left two runners on in the frame.
Pilot leadoff hitter Jake Holcroft hit a double in the fifth inning and has now reached base at least once in all 15 games this season at the top of the order for the Pilots.
Portland had leadoff hitters aboard in both the seventh and eighth innings, but hit into double plays both times.
Turney finished 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, while Jake Tsukada picked up a pinch hit to account for Portland's fourth hit of the day.
Freshman left-hander Caleb Franzen (2-1) took the loss for Portland. He went 7.0 innings allowing six runs on nine hits and struck out six.
Gile finished 3-for-4 with two RBI's, while David Vilches and Frederick also collected two hits apiece for the Bluejays.
