SALEM, Ore.---Ellie Erikson collected second place overall in the 5K and the No. 20 Pilots women's cross country squad topped the team scores with just 56 points the Charles Bowles Invitational on Saturday morning. The No. 22 Portland men finished second only to the 13th-ranked Washington Huskies, and were led by Thomas Salas' eighth-place individual finish in the 8K event.
Anna-Sophie Meusburger rolled into third-place with a time of 18:18.7 in the 5K, Lacey Conner claimed sixth in 18:24.9, and Evelyn Collins-Winn crossed the line at 18:45.9 for 13th-place. Alexa Hague rounded out the women's scorers in 35th-place with a time of 19:17.4.
"Great race for the team!" said women's head coach Ian Solof. "They really competed well and picked up a nice win. Ellie and Anna-Sophie looked great and Lacey ran another perfect race."
Over on the men's side, Kai Vickers clocked in next to take ninth overall, coming in with a new personal record of 24:58.0. AJ Reyes also picked up a new PR of 25:05.4 on the course, coming in at 12th-place. Paul Law (25:24.1) and Cameron Thompson (25:43.7) garnered the 19th and 26th place spots, respectively.
Both Portland programs will take some time off from competition before gearing up for the prestigious Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wis. on Friday, October 15.
