PORTLAND, Ore. – After showing out on the hardwood, Pilot hoopers Moses Wood and Alex Fowler have been named the U.S. Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for November.
A versatile forward for the Pilots, Wood was a steady presence on the court for Portland. He averaged 14.9 points and seven rebounds a game last month while shooting 51.3% from the field overall and 48.8% from three. He also made 86.5% of his free throws throughout November.
Highlights from the month include a 21-point outing in a win against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds against Willamette, a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards against Portland State and 20 points in a loss against Montana State. He scored in double digits in every game in November.
Fowler, meanwhile, was the leading scorer for the Pilots throughout the month of November, guiding them to a 6-1 record. She averaged 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds along with two steals a game, leading the Pilots in scoring six times last month. She scored in double digits in six of those games, highlighted by two near-double-doubles against Hawaii (20 points, nine rebounds) and Warner Pacific (19 points, nine rebounds).
The Australia native has continued her hot play to start the month of December. Most recently, Fowler was named the WCC Player of the Week for earning double-doubles against the CSUN Matadors (16 points, 13 rebounds) and the Portland State Vikings (26 points, 12 rebounds). She is the second Pilot to earn WCC Player of the Week honors this year.
