PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland senior Taryn Ries is the University Credit Union West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a hat trick during the Pilots' season-opening win over the Oregon State Beavers last Wednesday. It's the third career hat trick for Ries, and the first since her sophomore campaign.
 
Ries scored her first two goals in the first half and added another after the break to help the Pilots recover from an early deficit to defeat the Beavers 4-3. After already finding the back of the net twice, Ries scored the equalizer on a header in the 70th minute, and Jamie Rita provided the game-winner with just five minutes remaining in regulation. Ries needed just four shots to score her three goals.
 
Ries, who originally hails from Ridgefield, Wash., was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.
