University of Portland men's basketball has paused all team activities after a positive COVID-19 test result was returned on Thursday afternoon. The Pilots' scheduled games at San Diego this evening and Saturday at Santa Clara have been cancelled and are not expected be rescheduled.

Contact tracing is currently being performed and Portland's availability for the 2021 West Coast Conference Basketball Championships – scheduled to start on Thursday, March 4 – is uncertain at this time.

This is the first time the Pilots have been forced to go on pause due to a positive COVID result among team personnel this season. Portland currently sits at 6-14 overall and 0-11 in WCC play.
