PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland men's soccer team defeated Multnomah University 15-0 on Wednesday night at Merlo Field at the Clive Charles Soccer Complex. Luke Hendel and Jacob Babalai recorded hat tricks to lead the way for the Pilots. Yusuf Cueceoglu, Boba Fofanah and Caua Soares added two goals apiece for the home side.
Soares also recorded three assists on the day, while Miguel Yuste was credited with three assists in the second half.
The Pilots racked up a 40-2 advantage in shots with 26 shots on goal. Portland also had a 15-1 edge in corner kicks.
The match against the NAIA Lions was recently scheduled, along with an April 14 match versus Corban University, to allow more opportunities for the Pilots to get on-field action. A number of Portland's early season contests were postponed or canceled due to COVID-related issues.
Portland will shift its focus back to West Coast Conference action when the Santa Clara Broncos visit Merlo Field for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday. A limited number of tickets are still available for that match.
