EUGENE, Ore.---Pilots track and field standouts Anna Pataki, Stella Gillman and Sofia Castiglioni capped a historic night on Friday in the debut of a newly renovated Hayward Field with a stunning performance in the women's 10,000m run, which landed Pataki in second-place in program history with a new personal best of 33:11.30, Gillman in seventh-place all-time with a new PR of 34:02.35, and Castiglioni in 10th-place all-time at 34:24.18.
 
Verlee Bakker produced yet another great race for the Pilots in the women's 5000 meter run, claiming the first-place individual win in a time of 16:23.13 and putting her in ninth-place all-time in the Portland record books.
 
"So many great performances tonight and multiple new additions to our all-time top 10 list," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "Our 10k runners were all amazing and Veerle really impressed me with her win and PR."
 
On the men's side, all five Portland competitors in the men's 10,000m run each earned new personal bests, with Michael Teran-Solano finishing first for the team in 15th place overall at 29:01.15, which beats his previous record in the event by more than 18 seconds.
 
Clement Leduc registered 20th place in his first time running in the 10K, coming in at 29:12.32, and Jacob Klemz followed soon after in 21st place with a time of 29:14.70.
 
Bradley Peloquin also nabbed a personal record on the day in the men's 5000 meter run, finishing in fourth-place overall at 14:16.13.
 
The Pilots men's and women's track and field teams will have a quick turnaround tomorrow, when they head back to Eugene for the NW Distance Jamboree held at Lane Community College. Grace Oswin, Laura Pellicoro and Verlee Bakker will open the day for Portland in the women's 800 meter run, set to begin at 4 p.m.
