PORTLAND, Ore.--- The No.7 seeded Portland Pilots beach volleyball team will head to El Segundo, Calif. this weekend to compete in the West Coast Conference Beach Volleyball Championships. The Pilots are slated to take on No. 2 seed and 13th-ranked Pepperdine on Friday, April 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Dockweiler Beach.
Â
Live scoring for the weekend will be available at PortlandPilots.com.
Â
Portland enters the weekend at 1-7 overall, collecting the win against the Corban Warriors earlier this month on April 13. Due to the consolidated format of this season, the Pilots have yet to face any WCC competition so far this year.
Â
Pepperdine maintains a 11-15 record on the year, having met 17 nationally ranked teams and winning three of those matches.
Â
If Portland claims their match against the Waves, the Pilots will then play again at noon against the winners of Match 2 (Saint Mary's vs San Francisco). If the Pilots don't advance, Portland will then play on Friday afternoon in Match 6 against the non-advancing winner of the Saint Mary's vs. San Francisco match at 1:30 p.m. More knockout games are set to continue on Saturday.
