EUGENE, Ore.---Cathal Doyle of the men's track and field team registered a new Portland all-time record in the 1500 meter run at the Oregon Twilight meet at Hayward Field on Friday night. Doyle crossed the line in a time of 3:40.54 to claim the program best finish in the event, overtaking the previous record of 3:40.73 set by Jeff Thies back in 2017.

"Tremendous effort! I had a feeling that Cathal might get the record tonight and he did," said men's head coach Rob Conner. He ran smart holding back early and finished hard."

Over in the women's 1500m run, Laura Pellicoro collected the fourth-best all-time finish in program history, earning a two second improvement from her previous PR in the race with a time of 4:20.75.

"Another great race for Laura and an excellent PR," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "She has a very bright future ahead of her and tons of potential."

Evert Silva and Sean Tan also finished the men's 1500m race with new PRs of 3:47.21 and 3:54.12, respectively.

Leo Donlea claimed a new PR of 14:34.80 in the men's 5000 meter run, coming in 14th place overall on the night.

The Pilots will be back in action tomorrow at the Portland Twilight meet hosted on the campus of Lewis & Clark, and the women's sprinters will open the day in the 100 meter dash beginning at 5 p.m. No spectators will be allowed at the event, but live results and live video will be available at PortlandPilots.com.
