EUGENE, Ore---Pilots men's runner Cathal Doyle claimed 11th-place overall in the 1500m semifinal races at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field on Wednesday evening. The Irish native set a new Portland all-time record in the event, clocking in with a new personal best of 3:39.21 and just missed out on advancing to the final contest.

Earlier this week, Doyle was named the U.S. Bank Student-Athlete of the Month after outstanding performances in both the 1500 and 800 meter runs during the month of May. Doyle broke the school record in the 1500m for the first time this season at the Oregon Twilight meet on May 7th at 3:40.54, and followed that up with an improved time in the event at the West Prelim on May 29th at 3:39.99.

Doyle also notched the fifth best finish in the 800m in program history at the Portland Twilight meet on May 8th.
