SAN MATEO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference announced on Wednesday the official WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2020-21 academic year, which features student-athletes that excelled both academically and athletically. The University of Portland had the second-most honorees for this past academic year with 211 student-athletes collecting honors. Gonzaga claimed the most with 284 honorees.
In order to qualify, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. An athlete also must have earned a varsity letter in a sport where the conference determined a champion. A student-athlete also must have completed an average of at least 12 graded credit hours per term.
The honors are broken up into three categories: gold honors for those who posted a 3.75 GPA or higher, silver honors if a GPA between 3.5 and 3.74 was attained and bronze honors if the student athlete earned a GPA between a 3.0 and a 3.49. The University of Portland had the second-highest total of gold and silver honorees at 69 and 64 respectively and the fourth-highest number of bronze honorees at 78.
More than 1,000 WCC student-athletes qualified for the Honor Roll for the ninth season in a row, with just under 1,800 student-athletes earning honors in total. Below are the totals for each WCC institution.
