PORTLAND, Ore. – Pilot hoopers Chris Austin and Haylee Andrews have been named your U.S. Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for the month of December.
Austin had arguably his best month as a Pilot in December, averaging a team-high 15.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. He shot 44.4% from the field, went 11-for-26 from downtown and made 20 of his 24 free-throw attempts.
The Pasadena, Calif. native also had some of his best games as a Pilot in December. On Dec. 3, Austin put up a career-high 26 points against VMI with six threes and also notched his first career double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds on the road against Montana State.
Andrews, meanwhile, had a well-rounded month for the Pilots, averaging 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.2 steals per contest throughout December. Andrews eclipsed 20 points twice last month, with a season-high 22 against the CSUN Matadors on Dec. 9 and another 20 points against the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks on Dec. 14.
Andrews came up just shy of a triple-double twice this month as well. She added 11 rebounds and eight assists in her 20-point effort against SFA and also had 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists against Fresno State on Dec. 20. Andrews won WCC Player of the Week on Dec. 20 as well for her stellar play.
