PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots women's soccer is impressing nationally, moving up to 14th in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll. It's their highest ranking since 2014.
The Pilots worked their way back into the top 25 for the first time since 2014 after what's been a stellar start to the 2022 season. They landed in the top 25 on Sept. 20 and haven't left since. They are currently riding a 13-game unbeaten start, their longest such streak since the 2005 season, the year they won their second national championship.
Statistically, the Pilots are one of the stoutest defensive teams in the nation. They lead the country in save percentage (.919) and rank second in goals-against average (0.385). They have nine shutouts already on the season – the most since the 2013 season – and posted a six-game shutout streak earlier this season, their longest such streak since 2010.
Portland is on the road this week, heading to Provo, Utah for a showdown against the BYU Cougars. Kickoff is set for Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. PST. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video.
