PORTLAND, Ore.-- The Portland volleyball team lost 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 24-26, 25-21, 7-15) to the Loyola Marymount (CA) Lions Saturday at home at Chiles Center. The loss dropped Portland's record to 9-12 overall and 2-8 in WCC play.
The Pilots attack was paced by Jayde Harris, who finished with 16 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .275, and by Charity Bradley, who had 11 while hitting .28. Portland got 10 digs from Noelani Helm to lead them defensively.

SET 1 | The Pilots won the first point and never trailed to secure the first set 25-22. Portland led by four points at 22-18 before finishing off the set. Portland also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Portland then fell in the second set 25-20, evening the match at a set apiece. Loyola Marymount (CA) grabbed the advantage for good at 17-16 in a set that was knotted up 11 times before the Lions took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 3 | Portland fell again in the third set to make it a 2-1 deficit. Despite impressive serving, the Pilots lost the set 26-24. Portland notched five aces in the loss.
SET 4 | Portland broke their two-set losing streak and forced a fifth set with a 25-21 victory in set number four. A strong showing on the attacking end led the Pilots to victory in the set. Portland put together a .323 attack percentage with 14 kills in the set win. The Pilots opened up a 17-12 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there. Portland also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set.
SET 5 | After dropping sets two and three, Portland won set four, tying things up at 2-2 to force a fifth set, but couldn't complete the comeback, losing the set 15-7 and the match 3-2. The Pilots fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way.
