SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The No. 7 Portland Pilots dropped their first WCC match of the season 4-1 against the San Diego Torreros. The loss dropped Portland's record to 10-2-3 overall and 4-1-0 in WCC action.
How it Happened
- San Diego broke the 0-0 tie when Trevor Dillon scored in the 18th minute, assisted by Mason Tunbridge.
- The Toreros extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Oshea Foster in the 19th minute.
- San Diego went up 3-0 on Alex Churness' 23rd-minute goal, assisted by Cesar Bahena and Ross Johnstone.
- The Pilots got on the scoreboard with a 62nd-minute goal from Muslim Umar, his third goal of the season.
- San Diego increased its lead to 4-1 on Owen Wiebe's goal in the 74th minute, assisted by Nicklas Clausen. The match closed without another goal scored.
Game Notes
- Portland's Nick Fernandez was given a red card in the 70th minute.
- The Pilots still hold their best record in the regular season through 15 matches since 2018.
- Umar's goal was the third of both the season and his career. He's one of six Pilots with three goals or more on the year.
- Portland's 38 goals on the year are the most since 2009.
