PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots women's soccer team had four athletes make the 2022 Acadmeic All-District Team presented by College Sports Communicators: Camille Ashe, Bre Norris, Nedya Sawan and Colby Wilson.
The teams recognize athletes who have excelled both on the field and in the classroom, with the program recognizing student-athletes at all the NCAA Division levels and the NAIA level. All student-athletes who are All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Ashe played in all 21 matches for the Pilots with 20starts, all along the back line. Ashe was crucial in helping the Pilots earn 11 shutouts on the season, the most for the team since 2010. Ashe is a sociology major who currently holds a 3.87 cumulative GPA with a degree in sociology. She earned WCC All-Academic honorable mention each of the last two seasons.
Norris was also critical in Portland's 11 shutouts, serving as the goalkeeper for the Pilots in 20matches. She posted a WCC-best .849 save percentage and a goals-against average of .818 with 90 saves. She ranked seventh nationally in shutouts (11) and 21st in save percentage, and she was an All-WCC Second Team selection this season. She holds a 3.92 GPA and is pursuing a degree in integrative health and wellness.
Sawan holds the highest GPA of the group, posting a 3.93 GPA with a degree in psychology. She's scored five goals and added two assists on the year, including scoring a goal and an assist in Portland's NCAA Tournament first-round win over the Arizona State Sun Devils. She was an All-WCC First Team selection last season.
Lastly, Wilson is another member of the back line that has continued to impress defensively. Wilson has also scored two goals – the first two of her career – as well as two assists. She currently holds a 3.87 GPA with a degree in communication studies.
Portland put together an impressive 2022 season, going 12-5-4 overall up to this point for their highest win total since 2013. Their win percentage is also their best since 2013. They advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, earning thier first tournament win since 2013 with a 3-0 rout of Arizona State. They fell in the second round to a top-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide team.
