PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots had two players earn United Soccer Coaches All-West Region honors this week, with Shay Adams making the first team and Bre Norris making the second team.
Adams is the first Pilot to earn first team All-West Region honors since Ellie Boon made it back in 2016. Adams was a stellar defender along the back line for Portland, playing in 19 matches for Portland with 18 starts. She helped the Pilots earn 11 shutouts on the season, the most for the team since 2010.
Norris was also crucial between the pipes for Portland, being the starting keeper in all 11 of those shutouts. It was the seventh-most shutouts in the country for any one keeper. Norris recorded 90 saves with an .849 save percentage and a 0.82 GAA (goals-allowed average). Her save percentage led the WCC while her goals-against average was second.
The Pilots just experienced their best season in nine years, making the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013. They advanced to the second round after a dominant 3-0 win over Arizona State before falling to the top-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide on the road. They finished the year with a 12-5-4 record, the most wins since Michelle French took over as head coach and the most since the 2013 season.
