PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Pilots (2-0) continued their strong start to the season with a 70-54 win over the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine (0-2).
The Pilots had two players score in double figures, led by Maisie Burnham, who had 22 points. Alex Fowler added 18 points, six rebounds, nine assists, five steals and two blocks.
How It Happened
Portland started out the scoring by going on a 7-0 run to take an early lead with 8:14 left in the first quarter. The Pilots entered the quarter break with a 15-9 advantage. Portland capitalized on five Hawaii turnovers in the period, turning them into four points on the other end of the floor.
Portland kept its first quarter lead intact, expanding their advantage to 32-24 at the half. Portland saw non-starters score 11 of its 17 total points off the bench in the quarter.
Portland refused to let up, putting together a 10-0 run late in the quarter to earn a 42-27 lead. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Rainbow Warriors had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Pilots still entered the fourth quarter with a 50-36 edge. Portland took advantage of six Hawaii turnovers in the quarter, scoring nine points off of takeaways.
The Rainbow Warriors narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Pilots still cruised the rest of the way for the 70-54 win.

- The Pilots shot well from three point range, knocking down 42.9% of their shots.
- The Pilots held the Rainbow Wahine to only 37.7 percent shooting from the field.

- Portland got a team-high six rebounds from Alex Fowler.
