PORTLAND, Ore -- The No. 2 Stanford Cardinal (4-0) had four players score in double digits as they defeated the Portland Pilots (2-1) 87-47 at the Chiles Center. Liana Kaitu'u led the Pilots with 13 points, Maisie Burnham tacked on seven points and six rebounds and Alex Fowler scored six points.
How It Happened
- Portland struggled out of the gate, falling behind 19-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Pilots continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 43-17 halftime deficit.
- Portland's bench made the most of its minutes in the second half, as non-starters totaled nine of the team's 10 third-quarter points. Portland kept the Cardinal from increasing their lead before going on a 6-0 run in the fourth. Stanford responded and outscored the Pilots the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 87-47.
