SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Jakob Kintzele runs Olympic Trials Qualifier (OTQ) at the California International Marathon.
Kintzele ran his debut marathon at the California International Marathon in Sacramento, Calif. on the morning of Dec. 4, 2022. His finishing time of 2:17:39 was enough to qualify him for the Olympic Marathon Trials set to take place on Feb. 3, 2024 in Orlando, Fla.
When discussing his race strategy, Kintzele said, "I felt amazing for 18 miles or so. I pushed the pace early on and felt like it paid off. Around 22 miles I started to see the light and my head felt fuzzy. But I dug deep and finished hard."
Reflecting on the race, Kintzele said that he saw, "Lots of Pilot fans out on the course," and that he, "Couldn't be happier with the OTQ."
